     Before

     After

Bryan and Nancy Jones wanted to improve the flow between the living, dining and kitchen areas of their 1970s ranch house.

With the removal of  two kitchen walls, the public spaces of the house has an entirely different feel.

The kitchen had been isolated from the living and dining spaces,

but is now open to both.

Vaulting the ceiling and substituting low walls for full height ones makes adjacent spaces feel more connected.

What was a chopped up by walls,

is now an open, flowing public space,

with long diagonal views, making the house feel more spacious, and giving the family a new sense of connectedness to the outside and to each other.
